Clinic Policies

Routine Appointments

Routine appointments are scheduled for 15 minutes. As such, we ask that you limit the number of issues per visit to 1 or 2 (including prescription refills). This allows for an adequate amount of time to assess and address each concern.

All visits are by appointment only. When booking your appointment, please advise the staff of the reason(s) for your visit, so they can book an appropriate amount of time for your visit; please inform the staff when booking if completion of a form or note will be needed.

Annual Physicals

Periodic Health Assessments ("physicals") are scheduled for 30 minutes. This time is needed to discuss health maintenance, appropriate screening tests for you, and a focused physical exam.

As such, we ask that you not "save up" issues for this appointment. Please book a separate appointment for other concerns.

Policy on No-Show for Appointments

We request that you notify the office at least 24 hours (one business day) if you need to cancel or re-book your appointment. This allows our physicians to book another patient to receive timely medical care.

If you miss your appointment, you will be charged a No-Show fee of $25-$50, depending on your visit type.

Use the form on our website to cancel your appointment or call the office.

Same Day Appointments

Our physicians reserve a number of appointments each day that are available for same day bookings. These same day appointments are made available to deal with a single issue of an urgent nature (for example, sore throat or urinary tract infection).

Use of Email by the Clinic

For any medical concerns or urgent issues, please do not email; please call the office to book an appointment with your physician.

It is important to remember to keep your email address updated with our office, as the clinic will only email the address listed in your chart.

Inbound emails may take 1-2 business days for review and acknowledgement. You are best directed to book a telephone or in-person appointment for your physician for any medical issues.

Requesting a Different Doctor at the Clinic

Unfortunately, we do not accept requests for transfer to a different physician within our clinic.  We have a wait list for patients waiting to join our practice who do not have family physicians at all.

Policy On Aggressive and Abusive Conduct

Mount Dennis Weston Health Centre is committed to ensuring that its employees are protected from physical and verbal abuse from patients and other individuals in the workplace.

All patients must communicate with the Clinic’s staff in a calm, respectful
and appropriate manner.

MDWHC has a zero-tolerance policy for abuse, harassment, threats or
violence from patients and other individuals in the workplace.

Disrespectful behaviour will be reported to your physician and may result in removing you from their practice.

The following conduct will not be tolerated at the Clinic:

  • Using abusive and/or offensive words, gestures or actions;

  • Yelling, swearing at, mocking or harassing Clinic employees, patients and/or other individuals in the Clinic;

  • Threatening or intimidating Clinic employees, patients and/or other individuals in the Clinic;

  • Threatening or engaging in violence or assaultive behavior of any kind;

  • Recording by patients or other individuals (whether audio or video) of Clinic employees, other patients and/or other individuals in the Clinic without their consent.

Any patient or other individual who persists in abusive or harassing conduct will be directed to leave the Clinic.

Any patient or other individual who engages in threatened/actual violence,
or who refuses to leave the Clinic after being asked to do so, will be
reported to the police.
